Respond International Records re-establishes their vast music catalog online
FRESNO, CA May 5, 2004 -- Long time record label Respond International Records, is currently re-issuing their catalog of over 200 releases. Most of the catalog has not been released on CD until now.
During the late seventies and early eighties, CEO of RIR, Ron Akin was also the head of mastering music at GRT (General Recording Tape) in Sunnyvale, California, where he mastered music for more than 100 record companies. Akin says, "This was a time when vinyl records, eight-track cartridges and cassette tapes were extremely popular."
It was during his seven year tenure at GRT that Akin established his own record company, Respond International Records, which was distributed worldwide by his employer, GRT. Akin adds, "All of the music that RIR releases from now on is re-mastered for even better sound quality than ever before. Before I mastered music at GRT, I also worked for Memorex, and spent six years with Ampex in the San Francisco Bay Area."
When asked why Respond International Records is re-issuing this music now, Akin relied, "Quality music never goes out of style. These artists are well-known and loved all over the world. Our catalog is extremely diverse. There is something for everyone. It's time to dust off some of the best recordings and release the music on CD for the first time ever."
Respond International Records is kicking off their online CD catalog with two favorite Filipino CDs -- Anthony Castelo, ‘12 Greatest Hits' and Amapola, ‘You Don't Know Me?', formerly released on Lp and cassette as ‘Songs and Amapola.'
Twelve Filipino Christmas albums are scheduled for release in August 2004. Many more releases will follow, and one of the first is a best selling album by seven time gold record recipient and Filipino TV-movie star, Pilita. Also scheduled for release in 2004 are CDs by Filipino artists, Rey Valera, Nora Aunor, Rico J. Puno, Victor Wood and balladeer, Freddie Aguilar.
Respond International Records enjoys a diverse roster of artists, including the outstanding country singer-guitarist Nate Pearce. Blues artists include blues-rocker A.C. Myles, and jumping blues from Joey Razor and the Blue Blades. ‘A Tribute to La Musica Chicana', a release by Bronze, is so important to Hispanic tradition, that it was partially supported by the California Arts Council.
Respond International Records will consider signing ethnic artists to the label who reside in the Unites States or Canada. Artists with original music may submit demos with their bio to the A&R Director of Respond International Records, Roy Jones at 612 N. Fulton St. Fresno, California, 93728.
